Because the .300 blk was originally designed for the M4 carbine, there are some who view the caliber as a purely military caliber, and they see no reason it should be in the civilian market. And while the Honey Badger, a .300 blk build which features an integrated suppressor, pistol length barrel, and a fully adjustable stock assembly, it is no wonder people think that it is illegal. As stated in the NFA of 1934, this kind of .300 blk build is known as an AOW, or any other weapon that does not meet the full criteria of the legal definitions of rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Quickly and easily convert your Ruger SR556 Takedown rifle to .300 AAC Blackout with this barrel kit. While there are many who buy .300 black out kits complete, there are some who realize that there is an easier, cheaper method to having a .300 aac blackout build.
Because the .300 Blackout Is is an AR-15 platform gun, the upper portion of the build is all that needs to be changed from the standard 5.56 AR-15. In this way, as long as your new build is consistent with the original type of firearm it was, then you can legally change your AR-15 from A 5.56 to a 300 blackout. This way you do not have to waste money buying a new lower assembly, especially when the aspects of the kit change in the upper assembly. Oh, and best of all, easily running both supersonic and subsonic in the same rifle with absolutely no change in the gun. In fact, it is this latter capability that 300 BLK owners find most attractive.
So the .300 Blackout can drop a deer at 200 yards, or lob 30-cal lead downrange with little more noise than a cycling bolt. Great budget build rifle, definitely better than average. Cycles anything i put in it, including some slightly undercharged subsonic handloads as well. Doesnt say in the description, but the buffer is an H2 and weighs in at 4.5 oz. The handguard to barrel nut fitment is a little but off, but i cant expect 100% precision manufacturing from a kit at this price point. I was going to polish the contact points to get it lower, but realized its already been done from the factory.
I would buy again if i'm into getting another range toy. I have a brand new in box 300 AAC Blackout Barrel factory direct from AAC. It is the barrel kit that comes with the low profile gas block, carbine length gas tube, and 51T Flash Hider. The Tom Bostic .300 BLK conversion barrel set up is designed to drop in any G36C or Sl8 to G36C conversion and reuse your G36C op-rod/spring set, gas piston & barrel nut. The Brownells .300 Blackout Barrel and Carbine Gas System Kit is not just a barrel, but an entire kit consisting of a barrel and a gas system along with a roll pin and low profile gas block.
This is ready to install on a carbine-length .300 Blackout upper receiver, which you can then combine with your .300 BLK lower receiver. If you are looking for a short pistol length barrel for your .300 Blackout AR-15, you'll want to take a close look at the Palmetto State Armory 10.5" CHF .300 Blackout pistol gas barrel. This barrel is hammer forged out of chrome moly vanadium steel and is also chrome lined on the inside of the barrel in order to extend its overall service life. The chrome lined barrel is considered to be military standard for this same reason. With the gas tube removed, you can unwind the barrel nut freeing the barrel from the upper receiver. You can reuse the gas tube if its in good shape and the right length, and maybe even reuse the gas block as well assuming it works with your barrel and handguard.
This AR-15 Pistol Buffer Tube Assembly comes with everything you need to get your next ar pistol build ready. Assembly includes buffer tube, castle nut, endplate, spring & carbine buffer. This set up is drop in and you only need the proper HKparts.net barrel wrench for install or you can ship it to TommyBuilt Tactical LLC for the installation.
The barrel and gas block are Black Nitride coated for longevity and resistance against wear and corrosion. They are threaded in the standard USA .30 cal 5/8×24 thread pitch and will run both super sonic & subsonic .300 Black ammo. Most subsonic ammo will not properly cycle without a suppressor like most other platforms.
All NFA rules apply this is a 9″ barrel and requires an approved form 1 on standard rifles. All in all, the Brownells .300 Blackout Barrel & Carbine Gas System kit is an excellent value that allows you to customize your existing gas system. The sixteen inch barrel will offer superior velocity to a pistol length barrel, and the 4150 steel construction and nitride finish means that it's ready to be used out on the field in poor conditions. A threatened blackout is a variant of the AR15 platform chambered for the 300 blackout caliber but.
The caliber was originally made for the M4 carbine, designed to be equivalent in power to the ak47 7.62×39. The caliber works well with pistol length barrels and is optimally designed for suppressors with subsonic and supersonic cartridges available to the public. In the civilian market the thread of blackout cartridges is great for hunting. However it does not display the same ballistic capabilities as the 3 white Winchester which is universally accepted as one of the best hunting cartridges in the US.
SIG SAUER offers upper assemblies and caliber exchange kits in various barrel lengths. All NFA rules apply to installation of these upper assemblies to lower receivers and caliber exchange kits to upper receivers. AR-15s are available in numerous barrel lengths, including 10.5 inch, 12 inch, 16 inch, 18.5 inch, 20 inch, 22 inch, and 24 inch.
In general, the three most common barrel lengths are the 16, 18.5, and 20 inch, and these are designated the carbine length, mid-length, and rifle length barrels respectively. Anything shorter than a 16 inch will be designated as a pistol under United States law and will need to be used in conjunction with a pistol brace rather than an actual rifle stock in order to be legal. Each kit includes a ready-to-fire upper, 80% lower of your choice , mil-spec lower parts kit, buffer assembly with six-position M4 buttstock, and all the same specs as our standalone uppers. There is nothing more crucial to the performance of your AR-15 than the bolt carrier group. Manufactured to MIL-SPEC and finished with a superior quality nitride finish that protects against corrosion and heat, our BCG will not let you down. To ensure that it will provide superior performance in your AR-15, each bolt carrier group undergoes high-pressure testing and magnetic particle inspection .
The gas block is a critical link in the chain that is too often overlooked. Made from high-quality steel with a smooth nitride finish, this .750 low-profile gas block is efficiently designed to stay put with the percussion of gunfire. With its low profile this gas block allows it to fit under the most ergonomically designed handguards and rails on the market. For 6 years, SteelFox firearms has built its community around quality firearms and exceptional service.
To that end, We offer the highest quality .300 blackout parts and kits for the best price on the market. Therefore it is our duty to not only provide secure access to our store, but to ensure that our AR-15 products are sold at an efficient cost And an even speedier shipping process. The .300 blk rifle is good even though it is not optimal for the cartridge. You may be able to squeeze out a few more yards with a longer barrel, but the longevity of the build will suffer because the .300 blk is not designed for those kinds of barrel lengths. A 16" barrel, more of a carbine rifle, will still help to maximize the effective range and ballistic power of the cartridge.
However, the round is still optimal at barrel lengths under 10 inches. A big advantage to the .300 Blackout is that it allows a user to use only one caliber while switching between barrier penetrating, subsonic, and supersonic ammunition all the same time. There is little similarity between the subsonic and supersonic trajectories so you will either need to memorize ballistics tables as well as know which round your sights are zeroed for. Luckily the limited range of the 300 BLK is something that iron sights can handle no matter the bullet weight. Sure, a 6x optic will give you an accuracy advantage, but any good shooter can squeeze off plenty of precision whether iron or glass.
Instead of swapping barrels, many of the Blackout-curious types will just build an entire upper dedicated to the 300 BLK and switch out the whole upstairs, sights and all. In my case, I was not excited about the DPMS AR 15 as a .223 in the first place, and didn't mind making a dedicated Blackout gun. Plus, if your luck holds, you will have nothing more the cost of a barrel which is considerably less than an entire upper. And there is that in-between option where bolt and charging handle jump back and forth between calibers. As the .223 barrel had an A2 front sight, I chose to abandon it and install a Yankee Hill mini gas block inside the free floating handguard. Since I'll be running an optic on the top rail, I opted for some Magpul MBUS Pro Offset sights for backup and for longer distance shots.
There is no rule that says you cannot run both subsonic and supersonic ammo in the same mag. So imagine whitetail deer hunting in thick brush with the first round or two being subsonic and the rest being supersonic. It should go without saying that a 30 caliber subsonic suppressed round with a 200 meter range should have endless uses. A bolt cycling is noisy but only within a very limited sound radius. Add snow or thick brush or trees and the noise of a buffer spring boinging and bolt clanking will not travel far. And the thump of bullet impact is evidence that it's too late to do anything about it.
Unfortunately, the 30 caliber bullet leaving the muzzle under the speed of sound drops like a mountain pass after a hundred yards, and like a double-black diamond ski slope at 200 yards. Beyond that it's ballistics curve would be a boat anchor. You want your AR built upon a solid platform - this receiver gives you the confidence that your AR-15 will function when it counts most. The .300 blackout build kit can come in 1 of 2 varieties The .300 black out rifle and a .300 black out pistol. Both have their pros and cons, but bring a unique dynamic to the platform. Here are the differences between a 300 black out rifle and the 300 black out pistol. In order for the rounds to perform on the level of the AR15, 300 Blackout upgrades for the M4 carbine are necessary to ensure friction doesn't cause damage to the upper assembly or barrel over time. Overall, the PSA CHF pistol barrel is one of the best choices for a .300 Blackout AR pistol.
Built to military specifications, it's very durable and rust resistant, and is chrome lined to help extend its overall service life. As a pistol barrel, it will be very maneuverable in tight conditions for home defense, but less adept for shooting rounds at longer ranges. The Faxon Firearms .300 Blackout Gunner Profile barrel is unique for its gunner profile, which according to Faxon is designed to provide the right combination between heat dissipation and weight. Specifically, the Gunner Profile means that the barrel has a pencil profile before the gas block in order to keep the weight down and preserve the ease of handling. As a golden rule, a lower twist rate will result in more accurate shots.
Furthermore, a lower twist rate is a good choice to have for supersonic ammunition such as the .300 Blackout and will absolutely be necessary if you plan on shooting the firearm at longer range. It's also important for the barrel to be coated in a rust and corrosion resistant barrel so it can stand up well against the elements. Cerakote or duracoat coatings are one option, as is a nitride finish.
A nitride finish in particular is a common choice to have over a steel barrel, because it offers superior durability, hardness, and lubricity while also resisting moisture and rain well. The .300 Blackout was specifically intended for special forces units. The 5.56 had gained widespread acceptance throughout the military, but in many missions by United States special forces units the need for a round with subsonic performance superior to 9mm was realized. The 9mm was and is the standard issue round for submachine guns in the military just as the 5.56 is for rifles and carbines. One example is the Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun in 9mm. The PSA CHF .300 Blackout pistol barrel is an excellent choice if you are looking to build a .300 Blackout AR pistol.
It's very durable, chrome lined on the inside for an extended service life, has a phosphate coating for good rust and corrosion resistance, and it's built to military mil-spec standards. On this particular build, I zeroed the Aimpoint H-2 for the subsonic bullets at 50 yards, and zeroed the Magpul MBUS Pro Offset sights with the point of impact for supersonic bullets at 150 yards. Of note is that the stock front post has been replaced with Magpul's MBUS Pro Enhanced Front Sight Post, a tiny screw-in after-market post that improves accuracy by reducing post thickness.
The ability to interchangeably run both supersonic and subsonic round through the same gun with the same bolt is truly revolutionary. So to be able to run either/or subsonic/supersonic rounds at whim means that you need keep your .300 ducks in a row, as well as your sights. Changing barrels on your standard direct impingement AR is fairly straightforward, but does require some tools. The undeniable tool is a barrel wrench which is usually part of a multi-function armorers tool.
But in order to turn the barrel nut, you must remove the gas tube. And in order to remove the gas tube, you will need to remove the gas tube cross pin using a 5/32nds punch . Changing a .223 AR 15 into a .300 Blackout can be as simple as swapping barrels. The complete upper, lower, magazines and gas system might work just fine with the 300 BLK. Usually there are a couple other parts that get changed out as well, but truly in a nutshell, it is just a barrel switch. So a best-case conversion to turn your .223 AR into a .300 Blackout is 1) remove your .223 barrel, and 2) install a 300 BLK barrel.
The ammo choices for 300 BLK in supersonic was varied across price and performance. I found plenty of boxes of 20 from $16 all the way up to almost $50. Subsonic rounds hovered around $20-$25 and there was rarely more than one choice at any given store. 300 BLK ammo in the supersonic variety did pass my Walmart test. That means it is sitting on the shelf at the local Walmart right now. However, I was unable to locate any subsonic .300 Blackout ammo at the any nearby Walmarts.
Of course, subsonic 300 BLK ammo was available at almost every gun store and big box sporting goods store I checked so the stuff is common. And the Walmart gun clerk did say they've had 300 BLK subsonic ammo in stock before, but it was elusive as 500 round bricks of .22 long rifle. Even used it in a YouTube video I made on 80% firearms.
Installed the lower parts kit in my already milled Dayton Tactical lower popped on the pre-assembled upper and off I went. I recommend CBC for ALL 80% rifle and pistol builds anyone talks to me about. Low profile gas block secured in place by dimpling of the barrel.
